Terms of Service

Last updated: April 14, 2026

1. Agreement

By creating a RunRiot account, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service. RunRiot is operated by Fintale (Vadodara, India).

2. Eligibility

RunRiot is exclusively for Monsoon Miles 2026 registered runners during the campaign window (launch through August 2026). You must be 13 or older. You must own the Strava account you connect — sharing accounts, proxies, or coached-account usage is prohibited.

3. What the game is

RunRiot converts your logged runs into claims on hexagonal zones on a city map. Zones belong to whoever has most recently run through them with sufficient distance. Zones decay over time if not re-run. XP, streaks, bounties, and leaderboard placement follow from this mechanic.

Category assignment (Drizzle — 1 hour, Downpour — 2 hours, Cyclone — 4 hours) mirrors your Monsoon Miles registration and is managed by Fintale based on data provided by the event organisers.

4. Fair play

The following are grounds for immediate account suspension and removal from all leaderboards:

  • Uploading activities you did not physically perform (spoofed GPS, treadmill/GPS-emulator recordings, cycling logged as running).
  • Using a vehicle or another person's movement for GPS.
  • Manipulating activity files before upload.
  • Creating multiple accounts to claim more zones.
  • Harassing other users via name, photo, or any other visible content.

We automatically reject activities exceeding reasonable pace/distance/duration thresholds. Edge-case investigations are handled manually.

5. Rewards and race-day standing

Any race-day awards based on RunRiot performance are decided by the Monsoon Miles organisers using data we provide. Fintale is not responsible for award distribution or disputes over race-day standing. Our role ends at providing clean leaderboard data.

6. Your content

Your display name, photo, and gameplay stats are visible to other participants. Do not upload content you don't have rights to. You grant us the non-exclusive right to display your gameplay stats within the app and on race-day summaries.

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but don't guarantee it. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, third-party outages (Firebase, Strava, Mapbox), or force majeure. Missed activity ingestion during downtime will be back-filled where possible, but we cannot guarantee full recovery.

8. Strava

RunRiot uses the Strava API but is not operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Strava. Your Strava data is pulled under the permissions you grant during OAuth. Revoking access from Strava's settings or from our profile page immediately stops ingestion and triggers cleanup of data we've pulled.

9. Liability

RunRiot is provided "as is". Running outdoors involves physical risk — traffic, terrain, weather. You run at your own risk. Fintale is not liable for injury, property damage, or other losses arising from use of the service. Our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to ₹10,000 (ten thousand rupees).

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination we delete your data within 30 days (see Privacy Policy).

11. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be emailed to you 7 days before they take effect.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes shall be exclusively subject to the courts of Vadodara, Gujarat.
